Guitar Lessons DVD: Learn Without Frustration

Posted by Corey Larson on July 3rd, 2009

Educate yourself! No matter what level you are at today, you can be and should be learning more. If you are currently studying with a teacher or enrolled in a music program at a high school, college or university, you are on the right track. If you aren’t doing this (or if you feel that your current teacher is not helping you enough in reaching your goals) I strongly recommend looking for a new teacher.

I have written an article on this exact topic titled: Choosing a Teacher. I can’t stress enough how important it is to find the teacher that is right for you! Your teacher (or Lessons DVD) should always be Goal Orientated. If its not look for another teacher or school to study with! You don’t need a teacher to simply give you information or things to practice - you can get those things anywhere, what you need is a teacher who knows what your goals are, Cares about helping you reach your goals, and knows how to help you reach your goals.

NEVER GIVE UP! Never say can’t. Never say I can’t. Never say someday. Never say if… If your IQ is higher than room temperature, if you have all of your fingers and if you really want to succeed, you can.

Discipline yourself. Unlike a sport, you do not have a coach or a trainer to work with you all the time. Nobody is there to make sure you are practicing the way you need to, when you need to, and how often you need to.

Skills like improvisation, songwriting and playing with a guitar pick or not going to be high on his list of skills to acquire. This is because classical guitarists generally don’t do those things - and don’t need to to be great at what they do. These players are great players in their own ways and they have spent many years developing their skills. Learning everything about guitar playing would have taken away precious practice time from the things they needed to focus on to reach their goals.

I remember when I first learned them. It was the “tough” school, the school of hard knocks. The school of “here is where to put your fingers, I know it feels impossible, you’re not getting most of the notes out, but if you stay with it long enough, you’ll be able to do it.”

There are many other things you could do, with just a small amount of time - use your imagination. Of course, keeping your guitar at the ready is essential. If you only have a few minutes, you don’t want to have to get it out of a case and tune it.

Playing the guitar well is not reserved for just some special people. It is available and possible for everyone.

Performing Music

Posted by Corey Murphy on July 3rd, 2009

There are several types of music that depending on your culture and the kind of music you like you can listen and perform. I would like to talk about the types of music that you perform in your daily life.

If you are a lover of the pop music or blues, or something like that, let me tell you that the more you listen to the music you perform from other musicians the better knowledge you will have about the music you are playing.

Music is a very special language that is improved by the ear. The more you listen the better you will perform something. In the case of popular music is so. 80% of the music played around the world is listened music that is not required of knowledge of writing and reading music.

If you like jazz you should listen to a lot of jazz and even start experimenting with blues scales so that you can make your own style which evidently will come from all the music you know. The music that you can listen to and the music you can read or study.

The types of music are today very important in any culture around the world because the music of today is based on fusions of diverse genres and rhythms that can be combined and create new music, styles, trends and new types of music.

This last thing is pretty important because in most reputable music colleges such as Berkley School of Music, they say to all their alumni that the music is not their hobby, now the music will be their careers and this is why the music is based in something very serious that require responsibility and effort. The efforts of many people have led them to create new styles and make important fusions of music.

Advantages of Online Grocery Stores

Posted by Guest on July 3rd, 2009

There are numerous advantages to buying your groceries from online grocery stores. Below are five advantages to buying your groceries and other consumables online:

1. It is  convenient to shop for your groceries at online grocery stores. You decide what to purchase, and you get to choose from the same things that you would normally get at your local food store. Also, You can take your time and look over the items thoroughly and decide what you want at your pace.

2. You do not have to waste  gas by driving to your grocery store when you purchase your groceries from online grocery stores. If you live in a place where there are no close  stores, then this can be a fantastic way to get your groceries and not to have to spend a lot of your money on gas.

3. One difficulty some may have when they go grocery shopping at a standard grocery store is impulse buying. These stores tempt you to buy items that they do not really need or were not going to the grocery store for in the first place. When you buy from an online grocery store, you will not that same urge to impulse buy.

4. There is no waiting to check out online. You just have to click.  If you have young children, you know how  impatient they can get when checking out of a store. If you are like me, and can’t stand waiting in line, then buying your groceries online will save you from having to wait.

5. The groceries come straight to the house. Usually the delivery charge is free, but sometimes there is a small charge. After they are delivered, all you have to do is put them away, and your shopping is done!

Did you know that Amazon.com has an online grocery store? They do and I love shopping there. I definitely recommend it.

311 Shows Promise With the Release of Music

Posted by Steve Stevenson on July 2nd, 2009

Despite going through some tough times before they entered the music scene, 311 has managed to keep their heads focused on creating good music. Despite having troubles with their band line up and their struggle against poverty, they were able to see through and come out with great music.

Each one of their albums are by-products of their extensive touring of the United States and other countries as well. They worked hard to promote their songs which ranged from alternative to rap to funk to heavy metal.

Their first album, Music, was released in 1993. Despite being released more than a decade ago, it can still command attention from fans all over. Its single Do You Right received fair airplay and reached number 27 on the Billboard Modern Rock Charts. But despite this, the album did not do very well when it comes to sales.

This is where one can be confused with identifying a successful song, or album for that matter. Usually, we only say a song or record is successful when it is topping the charts and selling like pancakes. When an album reaches a gold or platinum status, then it is considered a success, or when the record brings nods and recognition from different award giving bodies.

What you need to know is that a record’s success is relative. A song doesn’t have to rule the charts before it can be considered successful. Personally, the success of a record is dependent on how good the songs are. 311’s Music is an example.

In this album, 311 compiled all their earlier LPs. Songs like Do You Right, Feels So Good, and Fat Chance, because of their great quality, have all been popular. These songs are widely played in the band’s shows.

The album has a mix of relaxing tunes and upbeat songs that will make you want to get up and groove to the music. Nick Hexum was able to come up with great loud music, the kind that does not irritate you. Even though you are not a rock music fan, you will surely appreciate what 311 plays in the record. Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, SA MArtinez equally impress with their respective instruments. Collectively, they were able to create a good mixture of excellent tunes and great lyrics. The songs will definitely not disappoint you.

Insert 311’s Music in your CD players and don’t take it out. You can listen to it for months without getting tired of it. That is how great the CD is. This proves that a record doesn’t have to be the hottest thing in the music scene to be considered a success. With the right team of talented musicians, you can.

Funky House Is Storming Across The UK

Posted by Darren Poil on July 2nd, 2009

UK funky house music has had a large increase in the number of clubbers supporting the music style. The sudden rise in interest for the genre has resulted in many music producers, artists and deejays acknowledging the growing trend for funky house in the UK. This recognition has meant that funky house music is getting a considerable amount of play across major UK radio stations, nightclubs and music television channels.

Funky house is often referred to by British clubbers as “UK funky”, and is a style of electronic dance music. It is heavily influenced by various styles of house music, broken beat, tribal and soca. Funky house tracks generally consist of percussions, synthesizers, samples and soulful vocals.

The catchy hooks often used in UK funky tracks are a major contributor to the growth of interest in the genre. Hooks such as “it’s time to get funky” and “say no more” are being widely used amongst clubbers. The widespread use of these sayings has been greatly assisted by the rise in support for artists such as MC Versatile and Coldsteps.

Musicians and producers formerly involved with UK garage, grime and dubstep, are starting to merge house music’s 4/4 beat with their previous work and are creating a UK funky house music vibe and culture. As a result of this new culture there has been a increase in the amount of tracks aimed at UK funky listeners. By adapting there style to suit funky house musicians like DJ Marcus Nasty and Donaeo are benefiting from UK funky’s increasing popularity.

Recently nightclubs and promoters have been focusing there attention towards providing more funky house events as it rises in popularity. UK funky events are often referred to as “raves”; events are held mostly in large venues like SeOne as the demand for house music is high.

The genre is also being heavily pushed by UK radio stations and television channels, such as BBC 1xtra and MTV Base. The support of these organizations has helped boost the popularity of UK funky house music.

World renowned deejays such as Tim Westwood have hade a substantial effect on the impact of funky house music. Their continued support for upcoming UK funky artists by allowing them to appear on their shows, has added credibility to funky house. Also many Dj’s find it essential to incorporate funky house songs in their playlists, as its popularity increases amongst nightclub goers.

As the role of UK funky house music grows within the nightlife community, it will continually gain recognition as an influential music style. Along with the support of the UK music industry, funky house is destined have a big impact on British music.

Review Of Casio Digital Cameras

Posted by Guest on July 2nd, 2009

Generally speaking if you mention the Casio brand most people will think you are talking about a calculator or a watch. I know a few countries where it is simply associated with musical instruments especially musical keyboards. A few people have come to realize that this brand has now extended its impact and has some digital camera products. Actually the penetration has gone through the first world countries and there is now a rise in demand for cameras.

One thing about them is their excellence in reliability and affordability. This is why I am not surprised to see an increase in interest for the brand world over.

Enough raving now let me just take some time to review some of the top offerings from Casio cameras. If you are looking for digital cameras south africa has on offer just sit back and read this first.

The Casio EX-Z

There is no argument about how hot YouTube is these days because of all the inventive, silly movie shorts you can view online and even vote or rate on. Now, getting one of the cameras from the EX-Z line, you can enjoy the You Tube movie capture mode which also has software capabilities for loading straight onto the You Tube website. In addition to this fantastic feature, it also has a 2.5 LCD viewing screen, a 10.1 mp resolution to name just a few of its best features.

Exlim from Casio

There is no need to explain this as the title says it all – Slim and compact are the defining features of this camera. This fits quite well in a coat pocket and can even be fully covered with the palm of your hand. More over, the choice on color options is wide enough to satisfy any color preference.

EX-S from Casio Cameras

This one has a movie recording feature that is also compatible with YouTube. It has 8.1 MP but I am not fully satisfied with its clarity – not to say ignore it completely.

However, it does have a few things going for it. For one it has a face recognition and detection technology built into it as well as an LCD that is 2.8 inches. It comes in a wide assortment of different color options and is among the thinnest digital cameras on the market today.

The Casio EX-V

At a relatively high resolution, the EX-V cameras are somewhat above the rest – they have an optical zoom of 7.1x  With a 2.5 inch LCD screen along with movie recording capabilities, the EX-V line packs quite a punch for those seeking a little more power. The two cameras within this line of Casio’s also have You Tube capabilities as well, which is great for the amateur movie enthusiast.

It is important to take some time to compare best value digital camera offers before you make a purchase. Just one thing I will say is that a Casio digital camera delivers best on affordability, style and it is quite versatile. You can use the internet to find your best choice. Find some really great comparison sites that you can use

Using them will make it very easy to search and find what you are looking for faster.

Learning Acoustic Guitar: The Parts of the Guitar and Proper Posture

Posted by Scott Forrester on July 1st, 2009

Some people may think otherwise, but in truth learning to play the guitar is pretty easy. The only thing that you need to do is learn where to start, and the proper place to start is by learning the different parts of a guitar. By doing this you will learn the way it works, and then you’ll understand the importance of aspects such as string and pick selection. There aren’t that many parts in an acoustic guitar, so we’ll go over them fast:

1. The body of the guitar is the big part that you need to worry about. This is where the strings are, and it is the largest part. It has a hole in the center which creates the so und that you hear when you actually play the instrument.

2. Behind the pick hand at the end of the body you will find the bridge. This is the area in which the strings are attached to the guitar before making contact with the hole, and making their way up the neck. On the majority of acoustic guitars, you will find that this bridge is composed of wood.

3. The next part to concern yourself with is the neck. Where is the neck? It is way on the other end of the guitar. It’s very hard to miss because it’s the only part on the guitar that’s long and skinny. The strings of the guitar travel up the neck and attach themselves to the tuning keys.

4. In order to make different notes and sounds with your guitar, you need to place your fingers behind the frets. The frets are the golden bars running across the neck, and there are normally twenty four of them.

5. The next part is the nut; this is a divider that goes between the neck and the head stock. Normally this is grooved and keeps the headstock from sliding about while you play your guitar.

6. Next there is the headstock, which is the topmost section on the neck. This is where the tuning keys are situated.

7. Tuning keys are the metal tabs which you’ll see on the headstock itself. This is where the other end of the strings is situated, and you can use the tuning key to change the tone. This is usually referred to as keeping the guitar tuned.

You have now been filled in on the various parts of an acoustic guitar. The next part of course is to learn the right way to hold this instrument, and if you keep reading you’re certain to find out!

For right handed players: The first thing that you need to do is sit down, and make sure that one of your knees is slightly raised to support the guitar. Hold the neck with your left hand, and strum the guitar with your right hand. This is a standard posture that nearly all guitar players use, and if you’re still not entirely comfortable, you can use a strap to secure the guitar.

If you are not right handed, then you are obviously left handed, and there is a specific way to do that as well. You need to make sure that you are comfortable first of all, and because of that you are free to sit in any way you want. All you need to do is reverse the posture of the right hand player and everything will be fine, just try it out a little, try a few different cords, and see what feels right.

Dereon Clothes - High Urban Fashion for Women

Posted by Julian Khan on July 1st, 2009

Although there are a lot of rappers, singers, and actors that have a signature clothing line, few have brought the sophistication and sensuality found at the House of Dereon. Singer, songwriter, actress and today mega superstar, Beyonce Knowles, started the company in 2006 with the help of her mother Tina Knowles, a talented seamstress who was responsible for most of the fashion worn by Beyonce and Destinys Child.

It was the buzz around Tina Knowles designs that she created for Beyonce and Destinys Child that gave birth to the idea of a fashion line. Beyonce named the brand after her grandmother, Agnez Dereon, who custom tailored clothing for private clients in Louisiana during her lifetime. Three generations of women contributed to the Dereon clothing look: Agnez, Tina, and Beyonce.

The mix of retro and vintage styles incorporated with modern hip hop influences and elements from Beyonce’s Creole ancestry make for a one of a kind line that has quickly resonated with fans and achieved acclaim from fashion critics. Nowadays Beyonce and her sister, Solange, model Dereon clothing, but Beyonce is more than just a model. She also assists and contributes design ideas to the items featured at the House of Dereon.

Plus size women will love Dereon Curvelicious. These jeans will appeal to women with curvier hips and bottoms. The junior line features more moderately priced items for a younger age group.

Bright colors and patterns, studs and luxury materials are used to create a signature look. Boot cut and skinny jeans, printed baby doll tops, cropped denim jackets, hoodies, pencil skirts and jumpsuits are included in Dereon clothing, along with handbags, sunglasses, hats and active wear.

Dereon shoes are multi-toned and ultra feminine, with sneakers, sandals, boots, and stilettos included. Items in the line are affordable for most consumers and are cheaper than designer items found in other top brands. According to Tina Knowles, it was important to keep the prices reasonable for consumers while ensuring quality, luxury, and the couture touch. So if you are looking for a hot new style to take to the street, take a look at Dereon clothing.

Carry on Luggage Size – Everything You Should Understand

Posted by Guest on July 1st, 2009

Considering about the carry on luggage size is significant whenever you want to travel. You may need the small or large size of carry on luggage according to the way you travel. If you want to know more about the carry on luggage size, just pay attention on some information below.

When air travel gains its popularity, the general carry on luggage size seems to have increased above all. Currently, each person seems to have a wheeled case with a telescoping handle during their flight. Nevertheless, this creates a trouble in the airplane. There is just no way for the plane to take in one of these bags for every individual.

This is just one of the reasons that it is important for every traveler to have knowledge of the carry on luggage size restrictions and other rules regarding what you can and cannot carry on. You can avoid much headache on the plane and at the airport by informing yourself of what is allowed (not to declare what is polite to other travelers).

Know the Requirements, but Don’t Push the Allowances

All airlines will present, upon request, their carry on luggage size rules and restrictions.  Most have them listed exyensively on their websites. When a number of inches are given, this number refers to the combined width, length, and the height of the piece of luggage. Make sure to include the handle, wheels, and any protruding pockets or pouches when you measure your carry on luggage size.

If a bag will be of the proper carry on luggage size, do not count on the luggage salesperson to inform you you. The bags which are advertised as carry on size may not in fact fulfill the carry on luggage size rules restrictions put in place by the airlines. It’s always best to measure for yourself to ensure that your new carry on bag will be useable and won’t need to be checked.

Keeping your carry on luggage size as small as possible is advisable for you in order to avoid troubles with space allocation once you board your flight. It is really worth having some additional things with you even though you may be allowed by the airline’s rules to take a large bag onto the flight. It is significant if you have to fight with other passengers for storage space overhead.

In theory, any bag that fits the carry on luggage size requirements will fit under the seat in front of you. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. You’ll most likely have a very hard time fitting it under the seat if your carry on luggage size is at the very top of the permissible range.

Being prepare about everything is necessary before traveling in any time. Always remember that everywhere you want to travel, you are expecting to have a pleasing traveling experience.

Thus, does the above-mentioned information still not satisfy your need in knowing about carry on luggage size? Explore more the suitable information herein!

Getting Into Songwriting

Posted by Donald Claus on June 30th, 2009

The song is the special expression of music that humans can understand with different words expressing a sense. A song can represent several kinds of emotions and different intentions and even messages.

Songwriting is the art of creating songs using inspiring themes or things of the common life that can give you an idea to express this in few words. If you have a band or you want compose songs, let me tell you that there are several ways to have a creative songwriting process.

In my personal experience, songwriting is like a part of my own life that motivates me to express thinking and many experiences that are occurring in my life.

One of the most important tools I use for a wonderful and creative songwriting experience is the use of a portable voice recorder. A portable voice recorder is used for my in many situations, but when I have a musical idea immediately I turn on my voice recorder and I start singing the idea I have. It doesn’t matter at this point if I have made mistakes or sang wrong notes or something like that, the most important thing for me in this moment is that I can catch all the ideas that I am receiving in this moment.

Then, the next step is start hearing the words and musical expression I have recorded in my portable voice recorder and I start cleaning the words I have recorded. The idea is that I can have a good song from this. I use my computer and I start editing all the content I have recorded until I can have a better song with all the commercial elements required for the good songwriting experience.

In other words, songwriting is an art that you have to work. You should make some efforts so that your songwriting process can be perfect.
